How Softies Refined a Premium CTV Concept With AI Video

Softies is a premium loungewear, sleepwear and robe brand built around a simple promise: All Day Soft.

But the creative brief went deeper than softness. The emotional idea was the luxury of feeling comfortable in your own life: comfortable, calm, confident, cared for and still pulled together.

That distinction shaped the entire production. The goal was not to make another generic cozy holiday commercial. The work needed to feel premium, effortless, feminine, understated and real.

The challenge

The brief called for a 30 second CTV film, with a 15 second cutdown to follow. The first challenge was translating a premium physical product into AI generated scenes without losing the details that make Softies recognizable.

That meant getting the Marshmallow fabric, product construction, color, waistband, tags and natural drape right. It also meant making the environments support the Softies story rather than overpower it.

As the first cut developed, another creative question emerged: how much human movement should the film contain, and could the voiceover feel genuinely human rather than synthetic?

Iterative product correction, a real human voiceover and tested versions with and without people, guided by direct client feedback.

What we did

Rather than treating the first generation as the final film, we used the client review process as part of the production itself. Each round focused on a specific gap between the generated visual and the real Softies product experience.

01

Locked the product heroes

  • Robe: 7800-60, Almond.
  • Lounge: 6800-2, Coco.
  • Hero: 8900-8, Olive, selected as the hero source.
  • The team confirmed the three products represented three different styles, one color each.
02

Built the 30 second master first

  • The 30 second footage was prioritized before the 15 second cutdown.
  • The plan was to complete QC on the longer version first and then derive the shorter spot from it.
03

Iterated on product accuracy

  • The Marshmallow texture was repeatedly refined because softness and texture are central to the product story.
  • The robe was adjusted to avoid the appearance of an invisible person sitting inside it.
  • The Cocoa waistband, green product color and Softies tag were specifically reviewed.
  • Product movement was refined so folded fabric felt soft and natural rather than stiff.
04

Tested human movement

  • After the first review, the team explored subtle human actions without relying on faces: putting on the robe, walking into the room, handling packaging and placing product on a bed.
  • Two creative versions were then compared: with people and without people.
05

Reworked the voiceover

  • The initial voiceover was flagged as sounding too AI generated.
  • A real human voice artist was used, followed by three recorded takes supplied by Jandi for further refinement.
  • The team prepared multiple audio variations across both the human and no human versions for review.

For premium product video, AI generation is only the starting point. The quality of the final work depends on how closely the output responds to the real product, the brand's visual language and the client's eye for detail.

The result

The latest review showed clear progress. Jandi specifically called out the green product color as being handled very well and described the work as close, with only minor tweaks remaining while team feedback was still being gathered.

The people and no people versions were both tested. After seeing both, Jandi preferred the version without people for its flow and seamless feel, while still noting that the human version was well executed.

The voiceover remained a key focus throughout the iterations, with the latest direction moving toward a real recorded voice rather than relying on an AI sounding delivery.

What we built

A premium CTV concept for Softies, developed through AI generated product and lifestyle visuals, iterative product accuracy refinement, human voiceover testing, and multiple creative versions for client review.

The goal was never just to make the product look beautiful. It was to make the generated world feel believable enough to belong to Softies.

Why this matters

Premium brands create a higher bar for AI video. Product accuracy cannot be treated as a finishing detail when texture, color, construction and feel are part of what customers are buying.

The Softies project also showed why iteration matters. A first AI generated scene can establish the world quickly, but client feedback reveals the details that matter most: the way fabric falls, how a waistband actually looks, whether packaging feels natural, whether a room supports the story, and whether the voice sounds like a person.

Testing both creative directions also helped clarify the role of people. Human movement can add life, but it is not automatically better. For this concept, the client ultimately found the no people version more beautiful and seamless.

That is the value of an AI production workflow built around creative judgment: generate quickly, review against the real product, refine what is wrong, test alternatives, and keep the brand's standards at the center.
